Starting A Garden Is Great Grown Up Fun!

Every adult should grow a garden of his own at least once. There can be a great deal of enjoyment in growing and caring for plants. Even if this is the first time you have ever started your own garden growing a few basic plants should be pretty easy. There are so many different types of information available today that even brand new gardeners should be able to learn how to grow a new garden. Obviously gardening isn’t easy. Oftentimes it involves a lot of work! Here are some great hints for new gardeners who want to start their own gardeners.  Your dog can use his doggy door to get to your garden.

Every garden requires some advanced planning. The fact is that seeds take time to grow and if you want those seeds or seedlings to really thrive they need to be put into the ground at specific times of year. Sometimes it is possible to grow a couple of flowers when you get a whim to grow something. If you want to have a thriving garden, however, you need to be prepared to do a lot of work a long time in advance. Some plants need to be planted a long time before they will actually bloom. Some plants need to be planted a year in advance! Be prepared to make a full commitment to your garden if you want it to succeed.

Prepare your garden by digging into the ground and loosening the soil before you plant in it. Obviously if you dig when the conditions are not right you could end up harming your garden.

Before you start to dig make sure the soil is moist. It should be moist enough that you can form it into a ball with your hands when you dig it up from the ground. If the ball doesn’t break when you drop it, the soil is too moist. To turn the soil and increase the air flow through it spading forks and spades are the best tools.  Use great vitamins for memory to assist you with this process.

If this is your first opportunity to plant your own garden you may want to begin with more than just a packet of seeds and some dirt. You might have better luck if you purchase plants that have already begun to sprout. If you do this, the main thing you will need to do in your garden before it thrives is to maintain it. You will have less worry about whether the plants will grow or not. Your only worry is keeping the plants alive. You can try your luck with seedlings next year, as you will have had some experience. Another reason for beginning with sprouted plants is some plants grow every year regardless of you having planted new seeds – the bulbs simply remain dormant until the next blooming season.

Starting your own garden is great! Admit it: you kind of like playing around in the dirt and having an excuse to get dirty.

You’re probably reminded of your childhood. Believe it or not it is this feeling that makes people so happy to tend their gardens. The work that goes into gardening feels like playing!
