Patio Cushions : Adding Instant Style to Your Patio
If you need to inject some new life into a dull old patio or your garden furniture is a bit faded and drab, try some new patio cushions for an instant brightening effect. Not only will your patio look so much better you’ll be more comfortable sitting on your outdoor furniture too.
Patio cushions are made in many different shapes and sizes to suit all kinds of outdoor furniture so you shouldn’t have any trouble getting some great cushions to fit your furniture.
However it will help in your choice if you have an idea in mind of the kind of patio “look” you want to create before you go shopping.
You could go for a look which is fresh and spring like or one which suits a tropical pool-side area. You might prefer a classic look with striped or plaid fabrics or the rusty shades of fall.
And for the undecided you can choose neutral shades such as cream or beige!
Once you have chosen your cushions, here are a few other ways to get your patio looking good.
1. Always have something in bloom around the patio area. The easiest way to do this is to use pots of flowers. Ring the changes with new flowers as the old ones die off and the seasons change. If you have room you can keep tubs of seasonal flowers and bulbs in an out of the way place in the garden and bring them out each year as soon as they start to bloom.
2. Accessorize your exterior. Add some bright pillows and throws to your furniture for even more color. Pick out one of the colors in the pattern of your cushions for a toning look or choose a contrasting color to add highlights to your patio.
3. In the same way that a lounge without a focal point does not make a pleasing room arrangement it’s good to have a focus for attention in your patio area too. There are a number of ways to do this. For example, a water feature, statue or group of exotic plants will serve this purpose well.
4. Think about adding some sound to help you relax. The sound of running water is great if you added a water feature otherwise you might like to think about hanging wind chimes from a branch nearby.
