The best period for crabgrass falls during the months of July and August. This period is known as their peak time. With that, crabgrass is also known as a summer annual grass. But before the weed blooms during this time, you can actually make sure that it does not get to that point. What you can do is take out your chosen herbicide. Choose a pre-emergent one so that the seeds of the weed do not germinate and so the weed does not grow.

When summer is around, you will see that there is plenty of this weed growing around. It does not have to be just your lawn or your garden - it can also grow in various locations. The list includes the cracks on the roads. Or maybe even in the sidewalks. Experts say that when you see such already working their way, you should be on the alert that the seeds may have found their way to your lawn or garden and they may soon be growing there too. Now if you want them to grow there, then just let them be. If not, then start on the pre-emergent herbicide.

You do not want your lawn or your garden to suffer from any kind of harm - especially the kind of harm that you brought. So if you are thinking that herbicide may do more harm than good, then you can opt not to use that. You can just manually attack the crabgrass. But the downside to doing that is that there may still be some roots or even seeds. Come next year, you will probably see the weed growing back again.
