Garden Pond Ideas
When the time is right for you to add a pond to your garden, there is more to it than just digging a hole and filling it with water and fish. You will need to think about a liner, plants and of course what type of fish you will be keeping. Design and location of the pond is another big factor.
There are many other things to consider that will determine what the finished pond will be like and some of these will be down to personal choice, like what type of fish you will be keeping, whether it will be Goldfish or another variety.
A few things to think about in the planning stage are where the electric and water supply are going to come from, the nearer the pond the better. Decide what filtration system is going to be installed and where, to achieve the best results and clear water.
Take your time and think about all these things and anything else you might want to include in your pond right at the beginning. Proper planning and preparation is essential to get the right end result and to make sure you do not forget an important factor of the pond, that might be difficult to add on afterwards.
To add to the look and add some sound to your pond, then what about a fountain, which will also aerate the water for the fish. It is best to give the fountain its own pump so that it can be turned off when not needed, without turning anything else off with it such as the filter pump. You may want to turn it off when you are not there to enjoy it or during the night.
A waterfall is also another great addition to a pond and you can really use your design skills here as the scope is almost endless in the way you can form your waterfall. You can go for a short steep waterfall or a long flowing one, the choice is endless, but again these can be noisy during the night.
If you want to make your pond look amazing after dusk then just add some lights, you can put some lights under water or in the waterfall, which gives a truly amazing effect, or just light up the area around the pond. There are many different types of lights available to give all kinds of effects to your pond.
Another important thing to consider in the planning stages of building a pond is the type of fish you will be getting for your pond. This may determine the way in which your pond is going to be constructed. A pond housing Goldfish may be a different design to one housing Koi, but on your desicion and completion of your pond will come the fun part of picking your very own fish.

I build garden and koi ponds for a living and use a lot of Pond Tubing. Not all pond tubing is created equally. I try to purchase my tubing from American manufacturers because of their high quality. Be careful when purchasing cheap tubing, most of it is manufactured in china and will not last long.
